The “Pacific Northwest Women Artists Oral History Initiative”  is a project to preserve the history of women artists of the Pacific Northwest.  I am pleased that  Melissa Granley, a student from the University of Victoria in her final year of an Art History and Visual Studies degree, selected me, as her choice of a local Victoria woman artist to be interviewed as part of her course and added to the Pacific Northwest Artists Initiative webpage.   My interview can be found at the link below.

 Artists Bio
Linda  live in Fairfield, Victoria B.C. where she is an active member of the arts community. As a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, her painting has won first place in one of the Victoria Chapter show. Her work can be found in private collections in Canada, America, and England.

Linda Darby’s art training includes the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and the Vancouver Island School of Art. Her award-winning artworks appear regularity in local juried exhibitions and attract international collectors. “My paintings are about relationships,” she says, “between the image, my memories and sense of place.”

Darby’s lively and evocative paintings offer varied meanings and spatial perspectives. . Her Geometrical abstractions, can evoke a range of meanings and associations.  She is interested in taking a fresh approach to the challenges of making compositions.  Her work has a persuasive sense of depth, drama and play that  promise a dynamic dimension.  In her paintings there are subtle plays on perceptual and imaginary space.  The result is illusory space, a projected plane of  scale and colour that becomes part of an intimate physical encounter.
